Trey Poker Rules

Trey Poker is a variation of traditional poker. It is also known as Tri card Poker, Three Card Poker or Poker three. This is because only three cards are used in the game. The game gives the players two options of playing the game. There is the Ante/Play and the Pair Up. A player may choose to play both variations simultaneously or select one. In the Pair Up version, the objective is to get the best value three-card hand. That means a pair or better. In the Ante/Play version the player is playing against the dealer.

Here are the rules to observe when playing Trey Poker.

The players have to place their bets. There is a circle for the Ante bet and one for the Pair Up bet. Someone playing both versions will have to place both bets in their respective circles on the table layout.

A 52-card deck is used. The player is dealt three cards by the dealer, face up. The dealer also gets three cards that are face down.

A player then has to decide to fold or not. If the player continues with the game, then a Play bet has to be placed. The Play bet has to be equal to the Ante bet. The Ante bet is lost when a player folds. If the Pair Up is being played simultaneously, then the Play bet is lost too.

The cards are then shown. The dealer must have a queen or better to continue with the play.

If the dealer does not qualify, then the Ante wagers are paid out 1:1 but there is no action on the Play wagers

If the dealer continues, then the dealer hand and player hand are compared. If the players hand is better on the Ante or Play wager, then it is paid out.

If both the player’s and dealer’s hands are tied, then this results in a push. That means there is no action one either wagers.

If the dealer has a better hand than the player, then both the Ante and Play bets are lost.

Trey Poker does not have any bonus payouts.

When playing the Pair Up, players win when they have a pair or better. Payments are made depending on the hand.
